The Guiding Star System is a concept that came to me as a way of clearly visually illustrating what it teaches. In order to measure and assess different areas that make up our lives, they are separated into the following different categories: Fuel, Movement, Rest, Out, and In. These are all familiar words that I’m sure you use often, and associate with basic meaning, but they are just used here to represent one-word answers for concepts that go much deeper. For each chapter, I will take you from basic concepts to great consciousness-provoking detail, to hopefully expand your awareness and understanding of each, and most importantly how they interlink.

1 – Fuel

Your fuel applies to what you are fuelling your body with. In first instance, this is food and drink. Your diet is so important to your general wellbeing and happiness, as well as your physical form. Food literally becomes the make-up of the physical cells of your body, and what you are. We will be looking into how to make the most of this, in order to maximise your energy input from food. This will also be looking into the other areas of fuel that our bodies can have and run on. Now if I was reading this book for the first time before my research began, I would be thinking, “like what?!”. But there are so many fuels available to us that most are unaware of. These are things that charge up or replenish our energy systems, much like recharging a battery. We are electrical beings; every cell that makes us up, individually contributes to our overall frequency or charge. Our current knowledge of the human body, and the systems of the universe and energy, is so limited as to what is out there, and there is so much that remains “unexplained”. Historically, we’ve been much more in tune with how to fuel our bodies, and generally being human! Our bodies and mother nature both share life energy, and as such intricate and complex systems, that can be utilised.

There are many ancient civilisations and practices that were very much more tuned in to this than we are today. Some of these include breathwork, cold water therapy, forest bathing, sungazing, sound healing, positive energy utilisation, visualisation techniques. Some things just “are”. We can’t always explain them, but we just know. Many people seek proof or evidence for something that they cannot explain with currently accepted “knowledge”. Many people want an explanation from science. As wonderful and beneficial as science is, we have to understand that it does have limitations. It is something that is constantly changing and is only “proof” of what is able to be evidenced in that tiny snapshot of time. If you compare science today and all of its “absolute undeniable evidence”, and compare them with those same “absolute undeniable evidence” from today, or from another period of time, then they would be very different despite the fact that they were both thought of as absolute and undeniable evidence at that period of time. So, if just for a moment, take a step back from requiring this proof from an outside source, and have the courage to question.

2 – Movement

When you are living and alive, you are never not moving in some way. Even when you’re unconscious, movement never stops. Your heart still beats, and the cells of your body are moving. Your mind may even be moving too. When you consider the meaning of the word movement, you automatically think of physical movement. Your physical movement applies to the amount of and ways in which you move your body. Movement is the most beautiful gift that can enhance and transform our frequency energy. Movement includes “fitness” but is not exclusive to the term, and does not necessarily mean that you run a marathon every day!  You may be very active in your day to day life without even considering the movement going on. This can be anything from cleaning or walking, to being a professional athlete, and anything in between. The movement of your physical body in itself, instructs the cells of your body, and all the related systems, to behave in a certain way. Your physical body then reacts to this not only during the phase of the movement, but also in how it behaves afterwards. For example, regular daily exercise will increase your metabolism overall, even when you’re asleep! Also, if you are asking more from your body than what it is usually used to producing, then you will be asking your body to use its energy to repair and recover from this. And we all know that doing this regularly is going to increase your body’s overall fitness, and utilisation of energy in general.

Movement also considers the movement of energy within yourself and your life. Mental movement, spiritual movement, emotional movement, progression in life. The movement of yourself on your life path is essential to your growth and development. We can move away from our “path”, and move back towards it, and move down it. You know when you’re off your path, and not moving in the “right direction” for you, something always lets you know! What that is, we consider in more depth later in the book.

It is essential as humans that we are able to progress in our lives. We all have lessons to learn, things to “move on” with, and a life path that keeps us moving, whether we like it or not! Levels of progress are different for each and every one of us, and we all progress at a rate that we meant to… sometimes comfortable, and sometimes not! We need to see ourselves moving forward taking steps to better ourselves from wherever it is that we may be. This gives us direction, focus, and motivation, towards whatever it is we wish to achieve or progress towards.

Movement can also be considered in the term of movement of location of self. Have you ever moved away, or gone on holiday somewhere, and all of your energy has changed because you are in a different physical location? I am sure this is true and you will be able to recognise this. We also look at this in more depth. It is particularly relevant if you are feeling “trapped” for whatever reason, and can offer a clarity on a situation that you would otherwise not have seen.

3 – Rest

When you hear the word “rest”, it is inseparably linked with “sleep”, which we all do and require regularly in order to stay alive. Sleep is vital for our health and overall wellbeing, and we all require a certain amount of sleep. Sleep is responsible for both physical and psychological resetting, development, and repair. It can make a huge difference to your life and happiness. We have different stages of sleep, and we sleep in cycles, and understanding and learning how to maximise these is of great benefit. You can sleep for your normal or recommended amount of time, but if the quality of sleep is not there, then you will not have the benefits from that sleep, and we all know how much that can affect the way we feel and our functioning. The correct quantity and quality of sleep combined feel just wonderful, and can make everything feel better! The functions and theories of sleep are varied and vast, but there is no one agreed theory as to why sleep is so essential. We know that it is an altered state or states of consciousness, but what can “knowing” this, and potentially using this, do for us? The link between these altered states of consciousness, and spirituality in different realms, is quite apparent. The amnesia and physical paralysis that we have during sleep will also be looked into in greater depth during the chapter.

The term “rest” also applies to resting when you are not sleeping, but you are relaxing. This is like a “down time”. This is a form of physical rest, sometimes combined with a form of resting the mind as well, for example sitting down on the sofa, or laying on a beach; a pausing of some kind. A lot of features of modern-day life today leaves people feeling “mentally tired” or burnt out at the extreme end of the spectrum. This is not a form of physical exhaustion, but mental, so mental rest and recovery is required. This is something that I have become quite familiar with, having previously experienced M.E. and complete burnout with adrenal fatigue 3 times.

There is mental rest, and physical rest, that is not sleep. Meditation and grounding are some great examples of this, and we will look further into this later on. I believe one of the biggest challenges facing us today is the ability to mentally switch off and rest, due to the amount of stimulation that is around us all the time in the forms of our phones, televisions, and video games. It is important to learn how to cut off from this, and relax and reset your body.

There are also some times where you can rest both physically and mentally, yet still feel tired, and unsatisfied. You can also get to a point where sleep and rest is just not charging you in the way that you feel it should, and this is where the concept of “spiritual rest” or even “re-set” will come in. This is where you can have the rest and sleep that you need for your physical body, and your mind, but not your spirit, and what that is seeking. It is everyone’s personal decision as to whether they will tune into this or not, and then just reading the sentence, you will realise how many people have just tried to block this off.

In your life, you may come across a feeling that you just want a rest from “you”, or “your life”. Some people try to ignore this, and hang onto precious thoughts of escape from daily life, like going on holiday, or one of many ways to try and delay confronting what is actually causing this feeling. A feeling of un-ease can either result in a requirement for extra sleep (depression) in the form of almost an escape from this world, or it can present an inability or almost fear of sleep (anxiety) in being caught or trapped where you are. Finding yourself in either of these feelings is not a nice place to be. Sometimes you’re unaware that you’re actually even there. But the term “rest” covers a lot of information and depth.

4 – Out

What do I mean by the word “out” for a whole section of The Guiding Star System? I use this term to describe your outer world, the physical world, the concept of time, and all associated with it. So, this includes all of the physical things that you can see, the buildings, the car that you drive, the leaves on the trees, the swirling sea, and of course, your own physical body; your cells, tissue, muscles, bones. This also includes your physical brain, your “storage-bank” mind, and some of your thoughts; this includes all conditioning and teachings received from outside sources. You may read that sentence, and wonder what it is exactly between these things that makes them all different?! And no, they are not all the same thing! We will go into depth on this later.

Your “in”-ternal world is reflected in your outside world, and this “in” is the next section. Your repeated, familiar, and practiced thoughts are a direct reflection and mirror to your outer world. On an energetic level, your thoughts dictate your frequency, and your frequency is directly reflected back to you in your physical outer world, and the world that you live in. This is no longer a question, as science has confirmed it in forms of quantum physics, epigenetics, and the placebo effect.

Your mind controls everything that you do, and is an incredibly powerful and underutilised tool. It is a fascinating bit of equipment! It can be your greatest asset or your worst enemy, depending on how it is programmed and used. And knowing how to make the most of it can absolutely change your life for the better. It can only ever be our responsibility to learn, understand, and utilise our own mind, for the benefit of ourselves and those around us.

The most fascinating part about the mind to me, is that for the majority of the time, it is behaving and controlling you, without you even knowing about it… unless you make yourself aware of it and intervene. It would be too much for us to be able to function if we took in every single bit of information that was presented to us about our environment and decisions as completely new things, every second of the day. So, the mind puts repeated or important lessons and behaviours stored in to your subconscious and forms an automatic programming so that you don’t have to think about every minute detail all of the time, and you can repeat the things that are familiar without making all the necessary decisions and taking up your conscious energy again. I mean, could you imagine having to learn that a flame was hot, and not to touch it, every single time you encountered one?! Life would be very different. The subconscious storage bank is home to both inherited and learned rules from our lives so far. It includes our traumas, lessons, learned childhood behaviours, and our automatic innate drives and desires. It also includes our ancestral and generational lessons and cellular energy, as well as our previous past life traumas, lessons, and loves. It then naturally applies all of this to your daily life, in order to keep you as safe and protected as possible here on earth.

You can see how much this is going to affect your day-to-day life, your frame of mind, and your well-being. It is very important that this function does not go unchecked, and that it has a good driver in the driving seat! You can truly unlock unlimited potential to your life and energy if you can harness the control of the gears and steering wheel. Much like taking your driving test, it can be a little daunting at first, but as soon as you’re on the right road, there’s no stopping you!

It is this generation, this time now, that is actually discovering the power of one’s own mind and how to make the most of it. Every generation seems to be recognised or famed for something, and it seems that ours is the issue of “mental health”. I actually think this is the tip of the iceberg, and it will progress to be a recognition of energetic utilisation and enhancement, both individually and collectively. Many medical diagnoses of mental ill health share very similar characteristics to spiritual awakening and increasing your energetic vibration, or feeling the lower end of this and an increased sensitivity. There appears to be a collective generational increase in sensitivity, which is resulting in a lot of confusion, and a feeling of being lost or unfulfilled by society and the physical world. The result of this is that people are asking questions, and questioning their ways of life, what is really important, and why… which is needed in order to change for the better. The mind is not only being used to question one’s own life, but also humanity, the world as a whole, and generational traumas. We are living in such a transformational period of time at the moment, that begins with the mind, our mind.

The “out” is something very human, and represents our human experience and challenges, not only in the human body, but also in the physical world itself. This includes our personal tests and all lessons. It is here for the benefit of learning, and experience here. The “out” is something that you lose with death, so it is not something that stays with you when you die. It is represented by your personality, your sun sign, your emotions, your persona, your conditioning, and your life experience. It is also your presence when this is wholly based in the outside world.

What is the difference between the brain and the mind? Simply put, the brain is only the physical. This includes the actual tissue, cells, neurons, liquid, of the actual brain itself, the things you could touch, not that you would want to! The mind is the non-physical functioning of the brain, the thoughts, the consciousness, the energy, the thoughts, the questioned storage systems. You can’t see or touch them, but you know that they are there. As a little side note, there is no scientific evidence to say that consciousness is generated in the brain, and further research is suggesting that this could be elsewhere; possibilities include it being in the membrane of every cell, the heart, or even in the gut which is regarded as our second brain. Where it is generated is a lengthy and complex debate, which we do not need to go into here; all we need to consider is the difference between the physical and non-physical, between cell and energy.

The “in” section of The Guiding Star relates to the non-human part of us all, the “internal” part. It’s the representation of your inner self, your personal spirit, your true self, your feeling, your awareness. It is your observer, and introspection. It is your deepest form of connection. It is a guide, your intuition, pure Self, in full authenticity. It is represented by your inner Self, your heart, your soul.

Many people are not truly sure of what they believe about the big questions, and in today’s world people often don’t give them much consideration. There are many religions across the world that have varying beliefs about God or Gods. And for the purpose of this book, none of the exact details matter. All that needs to be considered is the understanding that there is something higher than yourself. The understanding that there is more to the universe than yourself, and there is some form of higher energy, higher power, higher goodness. And I call this spirit. The purist and most divine form of energy, life, and love. It is within us all, and every living thing and non-living thing, and every form of energy. It is something beyond, that we all have a link to and connection with. And you connect with it inwardly. That is why the section of the star is called “in”, and this section is also the connection between all other sections.

What is the difference between soul and spirit? As a simple way of putting it, spirit is the highest form of energy, the purist form of love, light and life. Spirit is the greatest power, that something that we all know, it is of the highest regard, higher than ourselves. The soul is your individual embodiment of spirit, your unique version of spirit that resides within yourself; your energy, and everything that you do and are, when connected to it. Spirit and soul are interchangeable and inextricably linked, however they are different, or

“Connected but separate” – Hebrews 4:12

SOUL – The soul is you, IN or inwardly you, your purpose, your journey, what you have to learn here. This is not a physical item, it is withIN. It is eternal, and it cannot die, or cease to exist. The soul in general is your personal embodiment of spirit from within you. Spirit is one, but soul is individual. This is why everyone is different and unique in their own wonderful way, with their very own soul purpose. It is why every soul purpose is different from another person’s, and everyone is not the same.

SPIRIT – Spirit is generic, and unites us all. Sometimes described as collective consciousness, shared with all forms that have life. It is all an energy that we are a part of, that we come from, and that we return to. It is the highest energy and frequency. The frequency of pure love, authenticity, and life. It is divine. The divine, the spirit, the highest, cannot itself die. However, the connection you have with the spirit can feel like it has “died”, but it will only be temporarily lost, as you always have the ability to reconnect and rediscover this, however far from it you may find yourself. This is when the connection to one’s higher self and soul has been blocked out.

YOUR HIGHER SELF – Your higher self is your interaction between your soul and your spirit. Your higher-self guides you and leads to you. They are aware of the truths of the universe, and are free from ego. You are able to connect with your higher self to guide you with all their wisdom. They are unique and personal to you. I believe that your higher self was the one who chose your life journey and lessons here, in order to better your soul. Your higher self is not your only access to your soul. Your soul is pre-programmed and is within you always. The stronger your relationship with your higher self, the stronger your access to your soul information and how to align with it more effectively.

INTUITION – Your intuition is a deep feeling that comes from your inner-self (IN) or soul. Some say that your intuition is like a voice, but it is not like a spoken voice, it is a feeling and a sense of knowing. It is something that, when it comes to you, you just know it’s right. That doesn’t mean that it necessarily feels like a good thing, or is something that’s going to make whatever it is easier. In fact, it’s probably quite the opposite, as it’s rarely the easy way out of something, and it’s not necessarily what you want. Or should I say what your ego wants! Your intuition comes from a place of your soul, and guidance from your higher self, linking to Spirit. Intuition will only come to you when you are present in the moment, calm, relaxed, and able to receive guidance. This may be what you call your quiet moments.

It can sometimes be confusing to differentiate intuition with anxious feelings of the ego, always pulling you back to your comfort zone and ego. Also, the ego tries to make the excuse of telling you that your “intuition” is telling you it doesn’t feel right. And sometimes in some circumstances, this may be the case. Just make sure that you know you are listening to your intuition before automatically following it. This will get easier with more practice, but can be a little confusing to start with. The ego is very good at tricking you, and has likely had many years of practice!

Your intuition also differs from what people describe as a “gut instinct”, because gut instinct is something more urgent, for your immediate survival. This can be powerful enough to override what you are doing at the time, or present thoughts, but your gut instinct is something that kicks in, and forces its way through to your consciousness. The gut instinct comes from the sub conscious safety programming of the brain and ego, and is located in the “second brain” or gut of the body. Intuition is different, as you have to be in the correct state to receive it.

THE THIRD EYE – The third eye represents the awakening of the sixth sense of the human ability, and is represented by a “third eye” in the middle of the forehead, slightly down. It is regarded as “the seat of the soul”, and this is where and how you will link in communication with your soul. The ancient Egyptians regarded the “eye of Horus”, as the “all-seeing” eye. The Egyptian symbol for the eye of Horus, is the shape of the pineal gland in the human brain, and is regarded as a symbol for this. The pineal gland is located directly behind where I have described the third eye location, and is made up of the same material as the human eye. It is a frequency receptor in the middle of our heads, covered in tiny crystals, that the majority of humans do not even recognise anymore, let alone make use of. This frequency receptor or antenna of energy and vibration can be tuned into and awoken, and the crystals become charged, to create a direct link to your higher self, soul, and spirit.

The mind continuum
The mind runs on a continuum from ego to soul. This is a spectrum, running from one extreme to the other, with everything else in between. The ego end of the continuum is fed by and rooted in fear. This represents old, stuck, stagnant, still, and same, beliefs and behaviours. The soul end of the continuum is fed by and rooted in spirit. It is active and present thought. This represents new, free, development, movement, and change in beliefs and behaviours. Both of these ends of the spectrum form and influence the mind. And we both have each extremity within us. We do get to decide what programs and feeds our own minds, leaving us firmly in the driving seat.

The thoughts that run through our mind, whether based in ego or soul, feed our subconscious. The subconscious is known as a storage bank, or vault, where we store things that we have learned in order to help our every-day memory processing, and form automatic behaviours, to aid our survival.

For the continuation of this book, it is very important to establish and understand the distinction between the chapters “out” and “in”, and it is not the simplest concept, but please have a go at understanding this:

Is the subconscious “in” or “out”? The subconscious takes information in, whether that be from the ego, or from the soul, and it is then part of this subconscious storage bank. This is then a program, automatic and unconscious in its nature, and therefore forms part of the “out”. This is the case, even if the programming has come from the soul end of the spectrum, because it then takes on all of the qualities of “out” and not of “in”. This is unless you are continually free enough to challenge and check your own beliefs, even if they did originate from the soul, they can become ego with rigidity. This may seem a little confusing to begin with, and it does not mean that the programming from a soul-based influence is bad in any way, it is just the certainty and automatic unconscious recall and application of this that turns it into an “out”. When we are so certain about something that we allow it to be unchecked and unable to change or adapt, it becomes ego-based. The soul programming of the subconscious stays in the soul with fluidity and ability to question… even if it doesn’t change the answer! The distinction is also based on the intention or the motivation behind the thought, program, or belief, and that is something that only the person themselves can ever know.

Is the mind, or thought itself, “in” or “out”? The mind itself when kept in check by the person, represents spirit and soul, continual learning, consciousness, self-awareness, and new. So, this then automatically becomes “in” based on its qualities. And the same applies, so even if the mind is on an ego-based end of the spectrum, as the mind itself is forever moving and changing, and offering the ability for awareness of this ego and “out” thought, is the possibility of having this influence, changed, renewed, developed, into soul, or “in”.

The below diagram has now been coloured in the different “out” and “in” colours to show you the difference:

The missing link of healing, evolution, and ascension – Integration:
There are many different ways of getting to a destination, and I don’t just mean in the physical sense. Since embarking on my personal journey of growth at the age of 18, I always took the approach that I would find an area of development or growth that I was interested in and wanted to learn more about, and I would delve into it in the greatest of depths and obsessions, believing that it was something I could complete, and that was inevitably my way of guaranteeing I got better and felt content. The more effort I put in, and the greater the debt, the more likely I believed this would happen, as I felt entitled to it. I have applied this to many areas in my life; and I’m not saying that you do not get any success or results from it, because you certainly can. But you do not get to where you want to go, because you are unable to “complete it!”, and it doesn’t make you happy and content. When you are wholly immersed within something, there can be wonderful advantages to this, but it was not until I learned to zoom out slightly, take regard of the bigger picture, and look into many different areas of growth and energetic frequency raising, that this integrative and combined approach came into my awareness. This way you can harness maximum levels of growth and energy raising in multiple areas for an integrated approach that combines all of them to lift you as high as possible in your daily lives. In very simple terms, striving for perfection in one of five areas, in order to enhance your overall energy system, will never be as effective as raising your levels across all five areas, without striving for perfection in any one of them. You can take the best bits and advantages of all five areas, for your growth and advancement.

When you look into different areas of yourself in isolation, then you are only seeing one small part of the picture. Whilst issues may persist in one particular area, you need to take in the whole picture in order to assess where the energy and focus needs. The area(s) that you are neglecting, are the area(s) where you need the growth. I cannot promise that you are going to like the answers that you are going to get, (I certainly didn’t. and I avoided facing them for a long time!), but it is what you need to do in order to better yourself and actually be who and where you want to be. It will ease your journey in the long run. It usually presents itself that whatever goal you have in mind, you won’t be led to need to improve the areas that you are already good and accomplished at, you will be shown that you need to work on those that help make you complete. This is your guiding star, and all you need to do is learn to accept the guidance. ⭐️

The journey of the learning path:
I love the concept that we are all here to learn, and we are all on our individual learning journeys, whatever they may be. Along with this is knowing that as I go along my journey, the things that I need to learn will appear to me, and that will be in perfect timing for when I need to know them. There is also no way that we can learn everything during our time here in our human body. So, the information that we do learn is specific to us. The information and guidance in this book is unique, and you were meant to find it and take it on in your own individual way. The concept of “esoteric” came from ancient Greek mysteries, with the term “eso” meaning “within”, and when used with its closest original meaning it applies to secret spiritual teachings that were reserved for specific minorities, and never discovered by the masses. We live today in an age of information, where we are blessed to have such vast amounts of information. It is more than we could ever wish to get through and absorb a lifetime, at our mere fingertips, on a screen, via the Internet. Whilst I believe that the information is out there for everyone to find and use, there is so much information, that it can then become esoteric in nature again as you have had to seek it out in the jungle of information! Welcome to The Guiding Star System, for these reasons and many more.

Feed your curiosities and thirst for truth with as much information as you can. What is true will just sit with you in a way that feels right. And don’t not stop here; go to as many different sources as you can to expand and further your learning and awareness, and self-improvement. There are some really great sources out there. Hear other people say things in a different way, it may help you take on the idea. I recommend some wonderful reading at the back of the book.

The path of your life is the journey that you take when you are here, and the lessons that you learn. The lessons you have to learn are pre-determined by your higher self before you get here, all for the betterment of your soul. It is true that you are only ever one decision away from a totally different path, and you may or may not use your free will to take those options, but either path will lead you to the same lessons. And whichever option was taken, was the one that you were meant to experience for your journey and lessons. This is why we are all presented with such different lives, bodies, circumstances, and lessons to live through, as well as different gifts, talents, attributes and loves. You follow your path at the correct pace for you, which can sometimes feel very fast, and sometimes feel like you’ve stopped! But whatever it is, one step at a time.

We get whispers from our soul, our intuition, our higher self, helping direct us to the next step and level of our journey. These are all guidance from your higher self, trying to direct you to where you’re meant to be going. You may not hear the whisper, or the voice. Perhaps you may not even hear the shout, but you will not miss the scream. You have no option not to listen at some point. The extent to which you can deviate from your path is pre-determined. The more you distract, ignore or choose to be oblivious, the louder it will become. If you don’t listen to these nudges and whispers along the way, or you try to fight them, you will be stuck in your ego. When your ego is in the driving seat, it is very hard to recognise the signs. But you will be redirected in some way, and this is often the cause of discomfort, or at its most, trauma. Sometimes something as profound as trauma is needed in order to awaken and redirect, and to shatter the stuck ways of the ego, in order to free you to follow the soul. You do not have to wait for trauma in order to redirect yourself, you can make the decision that you are going to make a change. Often once you have experienced trauma, and have learned the ability to exercise free will, this will be clear to you in the future to stay on your path.

The closer you are to your path, the more connected and aware you are to yourself, and the higher your energetic frequency will be. The further away from it you are, the depths of trauma are the furthest that you can get. The soul acts like an elastic band, gently pulling you back to your correct path. The harder you fight it, the harder the pull, and the harder life seems. When you let go, and follow this, you will find that life feels like it is helping you as opposed to fighting you all the time.
